New Waterford FC manager Graham Coughlan has moved quickly to strengthen his backroom team with the appointment of Lee Bullen as assistant First Team Coach.
The Scotsman had an illustrious 20 year playing career, most notably playing over 130 times for both Dunfermline Athletic & Sheffield Wednesday, before beginning his coaching career in 2011.
His first coaching role was as an academy coach with Sheffield Wednesday in 2011, before being promoted to the first-team squad in 2015, where he worked alongside Carlos Carvalhal. After Carvalhal’s departure in 2017, Bullen took interim charge of Wednesday’s first-team.
Bullen remained at Sheffield Wednesday until 2022 – in that time working closely with Steve Bruce as one of Bruce’s first-team coaches, before departing the club after an 11 year coaching spell to become the Head Coach of Ayr United in the Scottish Championship, a club he spent two years at before moving into an assistant coach role with Boston United where he worked closely with current Blues boss Graham Coughlan, as he now re-joins Coughlan at the RSC for the remainder of 2026.
Speaking on his appointment at the club, Bullen is keen to get straight to work with the Blues squad, outlining:
“It’s great to join the club and meet the staff and players. Obviously it’s been a difficult period for everyone involved, but there’s a real focus around the place to work hard, stick together and improve results.
I’m looking forward to getting started with Graham, helping the group in any way I can, and seeing the supporters behind the team on Friday night against Derry.”
Head Coach Graham Coughlan is delighted to welcome Bullen to the club, stating:
“We’re pleased to bring somebody of Lee’s experience & character into the club at an important time for the group. He’s someone who understands the game, works hard and will be a strong addition for both the staff and players on a daily basis.
There’s a lot of work ahead of us, but together, we are committed to focusing on improving performances and results over the coming weeks.”
