Just six days after lifting the FAI Under-17 All-Ireland title at Turner’s Cross, Tramore returned to the famous Cork venue and completed a remarkable double by capturing the Munster Youth Cup with a 2-1 victory over Riverstown.
With the majority of the same squad involved, along with a management team of Nicole Bennett, Thomas Brett and John Power, Tramore showed tremendous character to overcome an early setback in sweltering conditions.
Riverstown made the brighter start and took the lead in just the third minute, capitalising on a corner to put Tramore on the back foot. However, the Waterford side gradually settled into the contest, growing in confidence and taking control of possession as the game progressed.
Despite creating a number of chances, Tramore had to remain patient before finally finding the breakthrough. Their persistence was rewarded in the 70th minute when a superbly worked team move was finished by Saoirse Daly, bringing the sides level.
As the game entered its closing stages, Riverstown looked dangerous on the counterattack and came within inches of restoring their lead. In the 85th minute, however, centre-back Alice O’Connor produced what proved to be one of the defining moments of the final. With a Riverstown attacker bearing down on goal inside the penalty area, O’Connor timed a superb last-ditch slide tackle to perfection, denying a clear goalscoring opportunity and keeping the scores level.
That crucial intervention gave Tramore the platform to go in search of a winner, and it arrived just four minutes later. Substitute Clodagh Power showed great vision to play a perfectly weighted through ball into the path of Saoirse Daly, who kept her composure to slot the ball past the goalkeeper in the 89th minute, sparking jubilant celebrations and sealing a memorable 2-1 victory.

Daly’s outstanding two-goal display earned her the Player of the Match award as Tramore completed an unforgettable week, adding the Munster Youth Cup to the FAI Under-17 All-Ireland title they claimed at the same venue the previous weekend.
The victory capped an incredible achievement for the players and management, who guided the team to two major trophies in the space of just six days.
