Waterford will be at the centre of a major day of underage hurling this Saturday, August 15, with the Tony Forristal Under-14 Tournament and a number of other All-Ireland competitions taking place across Waterford and Tipperary.

The Tony Forristal Under-14 Tournament takes centre stage, with the Shield, Cup and Sonny Walsh competitions providing a packed programme from 11 am.

In the Tony Forristal Shield, Group 1 action takes place at Erin’s Own, where Waterford Blue, Cork North and Clare White will contest a round-robin series.

The games are scheduled for 11.00 am, 12.10 pm and 1.20 pm, with the Shield final at 2.45 pm, when the two group winners will meet.

Group 2 is being staged at St Saviour’s, featuring North Tipperary, East Cork and Cork City.

The Tony Forristal Cup will be played at the SETU Arena, with Waterford White, Mid Tipperary and Limerick Green making up Group 1.

South Tipperary and Limerick White contest Group 2, with games again scheduled for 11.00 am, 12.10 pm and 1.20 pm.

The Tony Forristal Cup final is scheduled for 2.30 pm, with the respective group winners meeting for the title.

There is also plenty of Waterford involvement in the Sonny Walsh Cup and Shield at De La Salle Gracedieu, where Mid Cork, Clare Saffron, Kerry, Clare Blue, West Tipperary and Cork West will compete from 11.00 am, with the finals scheduled for 2.30 pm.

The action continues in the All-Ireland underage competitions.

At Toomevara, the John Doyle B Shield All-Ireland U15 sees Clare, Clare White, Dublin and Waterford compete for honours.

Meanwhile, Nenagh hosts the Ara Tip A Cup All-Ireland U15, with Waterford facing Limerick in their semi-final at 12.30 pm. The final is scheduled for 4.00 pm.

And there is further Waterford action at Kilworth GAA, where the county’s U16 hurlers face Limerick at 12 noon in the Eugene Carey Cup semi-final.

The winner of that game will progress to the Eugene Carey Cup final, where they will face either Galway or Cork Red.

With Waterford teams competing across several age groups and venues, Saturday promises to be another major showcase of the depth of underage hurling talent in the county.

From the Tony Forristal competitions in Waterford to the U15 and U16 All-Ireland action, there will be plenty of young Waterford hurlers looking to make their mark on a busy day of championship hurling.
