Séamus Power enjoyed a rather successful week on the PGA Tour as he claimed a top 10 finish at the 3M Open in Minnesota.

Power finished in a share of 10th place, eight shots off the winner, 21-year-old Jackson Koivun. Rookie sensation Koivun shot a final-round 5-under-par 66 to finish at a tournament-record 25-under-par, taking home the $1,584,000 winner’s prize.

39-year-old Séamus Power can be proud of his performance, as he secured his second top 10 finish of the year and his first as an individual, posting a final round 68 at TPC Twin Cities to bring his total tally to 17-under.

The Waterford man played his best golf of the year at the 3M Open at TPC Twin Cities in Minnesota, with his best work coming in Saturday’s eight-under-par 63, and he backed that up again with a three-under-par Sunday.

While he may have been a bit disappointed that he could not push further up the leaderboard, Power will surely be delighted with how he played and the paycheque he received afterwards.

Tied for 10th place alongside Michael Kim and Gary Woodland, Power took home a more-than-tidy $222,200 for his week’s work, and earned 70 PGA Tour FedEx Cup points, bringing him up 11 places to 104th in the standings.

Power is currently pushing to get back inside the all-important top 100 to secure full PGA Tour exemption status and card privileges for next season.

Eventual winner Jackson Koivun earned 500 FedEx Cup points for winning the tournament, in just his third start on the PGA Tour, bringing his total season points to 525.2 and moving him up 124 spots to 70th in the standings.

‘I had some nerves coming down 18,’ said Koivun. ‘Throughout the crowd I kept hearing ‘Scottie’s coming, Scottie’s coming’. I just tried to tune that out and keep playing the golf I knew I could and was able to find some good putts coming down the stretch.’
