Badminton enthusiasts from across Waterford came together at Rainbow Hall in Kilmacthomas on Sunday, July 5, to celebrate World Badminton Day with an afternoon of sport, food and friendship.

The event brought together players of all ages for friendly games while providing an opportunity for members of the local badminton community to catch up in a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

Organisers thanked everyone who attended and contributed to the celebrations, with players bringing a fantastic selection of food to share throughout the afternoon.

The event was also attended by local Badminton Ireland President Michael and First Lady Mary, whose presence helped mark the global celebration of the sport.

Organisers described the event as a wonderful success and thanked everyone who helped make the day so enjoyable, highlighting the strong community spirit that exists within badminton in Waterford.

World Badminton Day is celebrated annually by badminton clubs and communities across the globe, encouraging people of all ages and abilities to get involved in the sport and, in keeping with this year’s theme, to #RaiseARacket.
