Mayo will be hoping to end a 75-year wait for All-Ireland Senior Football Championship glory when they take on reigning champions Kerry in today’s decider at Croke Park.

Throw-in is at 3.30 pm, with Kerry bidding to claim their 40th All-Ireland title and retain the Sam Maguire Cup for a second consecutive year.

The Kingdom have plenty of experience throughout their side, with players such as Shane Murphy, Paul Murphy, Gavin White, Sean O’Brien, Joe O’Connor and Sean O’Shea all expected to play key roles.

Their attack will be led by the likes of Paudie and David Clifford, with David having already enjoyed another outstanding championship campaign.

Mayo, meanwhile, are aiming to finally end the wait that stretches back to 1951.

Andy Moran’s side will look to experienced players including Enda Hession, Conor Loftus, Stephen Coen and Ryan O’Donoghue, while the likes of Tommy Conroy could also have a major impact from the bench.

The battle between Mayo’s rising star Kobe McDonald and Kerry talisman David Clifford is likely to be one of the key individual contests of the afternoon.

Mayo manager Andy Moran says the excitement surrounding the county has not translated into negative pressure on his players, while Kerry boss Jack O’Connor believes his side’s experience could prove decisive.

The All-Ireland Senior Football Final between Mayo and Kerry gets underway at Croke Park at half past three.
