Speaking before the PGA Championship, Rory McIlroy said he is glad to be wrong about a LIV Golf claim which he previously made.
McIlroy is at Aronimink Golf Club in Philadelphia this week, for the 108th edition of the PGA Championship.
The Northern Irish man has won the tournament twice previously and will be hoping to win back-to-back majors after his Masters triumph last month.

McIlroy was once again questioned about the LIV Golf League on Tuesday at his PGA Championship press conference.
This comes after the Public Investment Fund which has been backing LIV Golf announced that it will no longer fund the breakaway golf league beyond this season.
Reporter Bob Harig questioned McIlroy about previous statements he had made, urging the PGA Tour to come to an agreement with Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund.

‘Yes, love talking about this Bob!’, McIlroy joked. ‘I’m glad I was wrong. I can admit when I’m wrong, and that was one that I did get wrong. I think this was always a possibility to happen. ‘Look, I think everyone knows with everything that’s happening in the middle east, that had a lot to do with [The PIF’s decision],’ McIlroy said.
‘Whenever you have funding tied so much to the geopolitical landscape in the world, that’s a tricky road to navigate. The PIF’s priorities shifted, and that leaves LIV in a pretty precarious spot. But again, that was always a possibility’
McIlroy revealed he had heard speculation of the PIF pulling out of LIV Golf as early as March. One of his close friends, Ricky McCormick, is the caddie of fellow Northern Irish man and LIV player, Tom McKibbin.
‘I was saying to Ricky, even before Mexico, ‘Have you guys heard any of this stuff?’ He was like, ‘No, everything seems OK over here.’
It just feels like the rug was pulled from under their feet and everyone was sort of blindsided by it. But again, that’s the risk that those guys chose to take.’
