Munster Rugby and the IRFU have confirmed that Ian Flanagan will step down as Chief Executive Officer at the end of October.

Flanagan, who is from the province, has led Munster Rugby during a period that included the development and delivery of the €7.3 million Centre of Excellence in Cork.

Munster Rugby Chair Ger Malone thanked Flanagan for his contribution to the province, highlighting his role in the development of the new facility and its importance to player development and rugby across Munster.

Flanagan said it had been a huge privilege to lead his home province.

He also thanked the volunteers, staff, sponsors, coaches, players and supporters he worked with during his time with Munster Rugby.

An Interim CEO will be announced in the coming weeks, with a recruitment process for a permanent successor to take place in due course.
