Erling Haaland reached a major career landmark as Manchester City maintained their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Coventry City.
Haaland scored the only goal of the game, heading home Antoine Semenyo’s cross after Enzo Fernandez had supplied the delivery.
The goal was Haaland’s 300th at club level, while his 20th Premier League header also moved him clear of all Manchester City players for headed goals and four ahead of Ollie Watkins since the Norwegian made his Premier League debut.
City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma endured a difficult start after almost putting the ball into his own net, but recovered with a series of important saves to deny Coventry an equaliser.
Frank Lampard’s Coventry remain without a win or a goal from their opening three matches.
Crystal Palace claim first win
Crystal Palace came from behind twice before beating Fulham 3-2 to give new manager Pierre Sage his first Premier League victory.
Tyrick Mitchell scored twice for Palace before Ben Chilwell, introduced at wing-back, struck the winning goal.
The result ended Palace’s run of nine league games without a victory.
Fulham, meanwhile, have lost their opening three matches of the season — a feat they have only previously suffered twice in their Premier League history.
Hull continue remarkable unbeaten start
Promoted Hull City remain unbeaten and, remarkably, have yet to concede a goal after three games.
They held Aston Villa to a 0-0 draw to move onto seven points from their opening three matches.
Hull have already beaten Manchester United and Coventry, while their latest draw with Villa means they have taken seven points without conceding.
They are only the sixth promoted side in Premier League history to collect at least seven points from their first three matches — and none of the previous five were relegated that season.
Villa, meanwhile, have failed to score in their opening three games.
Newcastle fight back against Bournemouth
Newcastle United produced another late comeback to draw 2-2 with Bournemouth.
Bournemouth looked set for victory after taking a two-goal lead, but Harvey Barnes pulled one back before substitute Jacob Ramsey scored an equaliser in the 88th minute.
It continues Newcastle’s unbeaten start under Matthias Jaissle, with a substitute having been involved in a decisive goal in each of their opening three games.
For Bournemouth boss Marco Rose, however, there is still no win despite his side taking the lead in all three matches.
Spurs still waiting for a goal
Tottenham Hotspur remain without a Premier League goal after three games following a goalless draw with Nottingham Forest.
Spurs failed to register a shot on target in a league match for the first time since April 2022.
Roberto De Zerbi’s side have now gone three games without scoring, although the manager remains positive about the performances and believes his players have the quality to turn their chances into goals.
Nottingham Forest are also without a win after three matches.
Leeds remain unbeaten
Leeds United continued their unbeaten start with a 1-1 draw away to Brighton.
Daniel Farke’s side have now lost just once in their last 12 Premier League matches.
Luka Vuskovic scored for Brighton and has emerged as one of Europe’s highest-scoring centre-backs since the beginning of last season.
Sunderland battle back again
Sunderland continued their impressive record from losing positions by rescuing a 1-1 draw against Brentford.
Vitaly Janelt put Brentford ahead before Enzo Le Fée equalised from the penalty spot with eight minutes remaining.
Sunderland have now collected 23 points from losing positions since the start of last season — joint-most in the Premier League.
