Stephen Bennett has been named the PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month for April following a sensational start to the Munster Senior Hurling Championship with Waterford.
The Ballysaggart sharpshooter has been in exceptional form for the Déise, racking up an incredible 4-22 across Waterford’s opening championship clashes against Clare and Tipperary.
Bennett’s influence has been central to Waterford’s performances, with the forward once again proving why he is regarded as one of the most dangerous attackers in the game. His accuracy from both placed balls and open play has kept Waterford competitive in two fiercely contested Munster encounters.
One of the standout moments of the championship so far came against Tipperary Senior Hurling Team, where Bennett delivered a stunning 1-10 performance to help Waterford battle back and secure a vital draw. The result ensured Peter Queally’s side kept their championship hopes alive heading into this weekend’s massive showdown with Cork.
The award is recognition of Bennett’s consistency, leadership, and scoring power during a hugely demanding opening month in Munster championship action. With Waterford preparing for another crucial test this weekend, supporters will once again look to the Ballysaggart man to lead from the front.
Waterford fans will hope Bennett can continue his rich vein of form as the Déise aim to push for a place in the latter stages of the championship.
Congratulations to Stephen Bennett on a deserved PwC GAA/GPA Player of the Month award.
