Ballyduff Upper ran out 3-17 to 3-10 winners in the county final, securing promotion to the Premier Intermediate Championship for next season.

The western side produced an impressive performance throughout, controlling large periods of the contest and showing their strength across the field.

Roanmore battled until the final whistle, but Ballyduff Upper had built up enough of a cushion to see out the victory.

Sean Hickey was among the key performers for the winners, finishing with two points, while Tyrone Flynn also impressed, contributing two points from placed balls.

Ballyduff Upper’s third goal arrived late in the contest, with Brian Cook getting the final touch to put further daylight between the sides.

At the other end, goalkeeper Conor Sheehan made two superb saves during the final stages to ensure Roanmore could not mount a late comeback.

There was heartbreak for Roanmore, who had reached back-to-back Intermediate finals, but Ballyduff Upper’s performance proved too strong on the day.

The victory brings promotion to Premier Intermediate for Ballyduff Upper, who have now delivered on their ambitions after setting out their stall early in the campaign.

Mikey Kearney was named Player of the Match following an outstanding display, with his experience and quality helping Ballyduff Upper secure the county title.
