It’s another huge day in the Munster Senior Hurling Championship as Clare host Limerick in Ennis this afternoon, with throw-in at 2pm.

Limerick come into the game under serious pressure, currently sitting at the bottom of the table with no points on the board. John Kiely’s side will also be without two key figures—Cian Lynch, who is suspended following his red card against Cork, and star forward Aaron Gillane, who misses out through injury.

It doesn’t get any easier for Limerick as they travel to Ennis, a venue that has proven difficult for them over the years. Since 2017, they’ve managed just one championship win in Clare—coming in 2024—highlighting the size of the task facing them today.

For Clare, the stakes are equally high. A win would see them move level with Cork at the top of the table on four points, putting them in a strong position heading into the closing stages of the round-robin series. It would leave Waterford and Tipperary trailing on one point, with Limerick still rooted to the bottom.

From a Waterford perspective, a Clare victory could add extra significance to the final round clash with Limerick on May 17th in the Gaelic Grounds. However, the Déise have business of their own to take care of first, with a must-win encounter against Cork in Walsh Park next Saturday. Ben O’Connor is set to lead a confident Cork side into Waterford City, despite injury concerns of their own.

All eyes, for now, turn to Ennis for what promises to be another gripping chapter in this year’s Munster Championship—widely shaping up as one of the most competitive and entertaining provincial campaigns in recent memory.

Limerick know they have to win to keep their hopes alive. But if Clare can tighten things up defensively and cut out the concession of goals, they may have enough to get the nod on Home soil
