A 15-year-old boy who died following an incident at a motorsport event in Co Donegal has been named as Tadhg Callaghan Carter.

Gardaí said they are continuing to investigate the death of the teenager following an incident involving a participating vehicle during the event at Trentagh, near Kilmacrennan, on Saturday.

Emergency services and Gardaí were alerted to the incident shortly before 5pm at Location 15 on Special Stage 12 Gartan.

Tadhg, who was attending the event as a spectator, was taken to Letterkenny University Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.

Gardaí confirmed that the local coroner has been notified and that a post-mortem examination will be arranged.

The road, which was closed following the incident, has since reopened.

Investigating Gardaí are appealing for witnesses who were present at Location 15 on Special Stage 12 Gartan on Saturday to come forward.

They are particularly seeking anyone who may have mobile phone or dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident.

Gardaí said investigations are ongoing and that further updates will follow.
