Visitors and locals alike will be delighted to see the return of the Waterford Welcome Ambassadors, who once again will offer a friendly welcome across Waterford City and County for the 2026 visitor season.
The volunteer ambassadors play an important role in helping visitors enjoy everything Waterford has to offer.
The ambassadors assist visitors with directions, transport information, recommendations on places to eat and drink, and guidance on local attractions, heritage sites, beaches, walks and events taking place throughout the county.
Their local knowledge helps visitors make the most of their stay while also supporting local businesses and tourism providers.
Mayor of Waterford City and County, Cllr. Seamus Ryan praised the volunteers at the official launch saying, “It is a pleasure to welcome back the Waterford Welcome Ambassadors for another year.
Visitors to our beautiful city and county are always delighted to see the ambassadors return to our streets, towns and visitor hubs.”
The Mayor also acknowledged the organisations that support the programme, including the Waterford Volunteer Centre, Waterford Chamber, local tourism partners, and all those who help coordinate the initiative across Waterford City, Tramore, Lismore, Dungarvan and Dunmore East.
Keith Murphy, Tourism Officer, Waterford City and County Council added, “We are delighted to have been at the reception today, here in the Medieval Museum, for the Welcome Ambassadors. They do amazing work and are a key part of Waterford’s tourism experience.
“The warm welcome, advice and recommendations offered from the volunteers to our coach and cruise ship visitors is invaluable. The work they do goes a long way to encouraging return visits to Waterford.”
