A new Waterford to Carlow bus service is being introduced following the withdrawal of Expressway’s Route 4 service. The National Transport Authority says the move is aimed at restoring public transport links along the corridor between the two counties.

The new TFI Route 365 will begin operating on Sunday 24 May 2026.

Bus Éireann will run the service on an interim basis, providing four daily return journeys between Waterford and Carlow.

The route will serve key stops including Waterford Bus Station, Kilmacow, Mullinavat, Ballyhale, Knocktopher, Thomastown, Dungarvan, Muine Bheag and Carlow Bus Station. It will also include limited weekday stops at SETU Carlow and Carlow Institute.

The NTA says it will continue to monitor the service to ensure it meets passenger demand along the Waterford to Carlow corridor.
