
People in Waterford are among the most frequent weather checkers in Ireland, according to new search trends analysis by KFC.
The analysis of online search trends found Oola, Co. Limerick, is Ireland’s most weather obsessed town, with Gortroe in Cork and Wexford Town completing the top three.
Waterford featured four times in the top 10, with people in Tramore, Dungarvan, Kilmacthomas and Waterford City regularly checking the forecast.
KFC says weather plays a significant role in consumer habits, with changes in temperature, rain and sunshine influencing when people choose to eat out or order takeaway.
Fast food chains use forecasting and sales data to help predict customer demand, allowing restaurants to better manage staffing levels, stock and food preparation while reducing waste. Retailers across a range of industries increasingly use weather forecasts alongside historical sales data to anticipate changes in customer behaviour.
