Gardaí in Waterford yesterday (Wednesday) completed a day of action in relation to e-scooter use locally.

As part of this, thirteen on-the-spot fines were issued relating to e-scooters being driven in pedestrian areas and on footpaths.

One e-scooter was seized from a juvenile.

Inspector Shay Keevans from Waterford Garda Station told WLR that two suspected drug drivers were arrested.

The driver of an e-scooter was stopped and arrested after being found with cannabis with an estimated value of €1,000.

Overall, 27 on-the-spot fines were issued across the day for road traffic offences as part of the day of action.
