Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow high temperature warning for Waterford and the entire country, with temperatures expected to exceed 27 degrees from tomorrow afternoon.
The warning comes into effect at midday on Tuesday and remains in place until 9am on Friday.
Forecasters say daytime temperatures above 27 degrees, combined with night-time temperatures staying above 15 degrees, could lead to uncomfortable sleeping conditions and an increased risk of heat stress.
The warm weather is also expected to bring larger crowds to beaches, lakes and other outdoor swimming locations across Waterford raising concerns about water safety.
People are being advised to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest parts of the day and check in on vulnerable family members, neighbours and friends.
The warning covers the entire country.
