
A man has been arrested in connection with the investigation into the death of a woman in County Waterford.
The man, aged in his 30s, was arrested today and is being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda station in the South Eastern Region.
The arrest follows the discovery of the body of a woman, believed to be in her 80s, at a residential property in Ardsallagh near Youghal Bridge, Co. Waterford shortly after 2pm on Monday.
She was pronounced dead at the scene and the property remains preserved for a forensic examination.
A Senior Investigating Officer is leading the inquiry and an incident room has been established at Dungarvan Garda Station. The Coroner and the Office of the State Pathologist have been notified, while a post-mortem examination is due to take place.
Gardaí say investigations are ongoing.
