Urgent recall for electric blankets sold in Ireland over fire fears

The CCPC has issued an urgent recall over an electric blanket sold in Ireland due to fire fears.
Certain batches of the Dunelm Cosy and Warm electric blankets, which use copper wires to heat up, are being recalled, with the CCPC urging people who may own them to stop use immediately.
The copper wiring in the blankets may fray, which could cause overheating and, in turn, may lead to fire.

The affected batches are:
- Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket Single, Barcode 5057722358976, article number 30652063
- Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket Double, Barcode 5057722358983, article number 30652064
- Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket King, Barcode 5057722358990, article number 30652065
- Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket Single, Barcode 5063003294383, article number 30838451

- Dunelm Cosy & Warm Electric Blanket King, Barcode 5063003295007, article number 30838453
Approximately 867 of the heated blankets were sold in Ireland, with the affected batches sold in 2022 and 2023.

Customers are urged to check the care label on their blanket, which is attached to the fabric, to check the barcode and article number.
If the barcode matches one of the affected batches, stop using the blanket immediately.
Free upgraded cables are currently available; to claim the free upgraded cable, contact Dunelm’s customer service team on (01) 645 8200. Alternatively, you can return the affected blanket and cable to your nearest Dunelm for a full refund.
