Gardaí have arrested two men as part of the ongoing investigation into the fatal assault of 29-year-old Scarlett Faulkner in Co. Tipperary last month.

The arrests were made on Tuesday morning (April 28) in connection with the attack, which occurred on the R494 at Birdhill shortly before 5:30pm on Saturday, March 21.

The two males, one aged in his late 40s and the other in his late teens, are currently being detained at Garda stations in Co. Tipperary under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007.

Gardaí confirmed that investigations into the incident are continuing, and a Family Liaison Officer remains in place to support Ms Faulkner’s loved ones.

Ms Faulkner, a Limerick native and mother of one, died earlier this month after sustaining severe head injuries in what has been described as a brutal roadside assault.

She had been receiving treatment at Cork University Hospital, where she was placed in an induced coma in an effort to reduce swelling on her brain.

Despite medical efforts, she failed to recover.

Her death was confirmed by her family, who said she passed away peacefully surrounded by loved ones.

The case has already seen two other individuals brought before the courts.

A woman in her 40s faces multiple charges, including violent disorder, reckless endangerment and burglary, while a teenage girl has been charged with assault causing serious harm.

Proceedings in those cases are ongoing.
