A Tramore woman has claimed top honours at the opening day of the Punchestown Festival, with Louisa Murphy winning the prestigious Bollinger Best Dressed competition.

Murphy caught the attention of judges with a polished and distinctive look, combining carefully chosen pieces with a unique story behind her outfit.

Standout style earns top prize

Her winning ensemble featured a sea foam green floral dress sourced on Vinted, paired with a rental handbag and gold heels. However, it was her eye-catching headpiece that set her apart.

Murphy revealed she tracked it down after seeing it worn at the Melbourne Cup, eventually securing it after reaching out directly to its owner online.

Judges praised not just the look itself, but the effort and creativity involved in putting the outfit together.

Dream win for Waterford stylist

A mum of two, Murphy runs hair salons in Tramore and Wexford and also owns a luxury rental business, Saints Style Society.

Speaking after her win, she described the moment as a dream come true.

“I’ve been coming to Punchestown for years and always hoped to be part of the competition, so to win it is just amazing,” she said.

Murphy is also recently engaged to horse trainer John Flavin, and the couple will be attending the festival throughout the week.

Through to Friday’s final

With her day one win, Murphy has secured a place in the Bollinger Best Dressed final on Friday.

The overall winner will receive a luxury trip for two to the Bollinger Estate in France, including flights, five-star accommodation and an exclusive champagne experience.

Festival fashion competition continues

The Best Dressed competition runs across the first four days of the Punchestown Festival and remains one of the highlights of the event.

Murphy’s success ensures Waterford is represented in Friday’s final, following a strong start to the festival’s style showcase.
