There was fantastic news for the local workforce today as leading Irish electrical engineering firm BMC Manufacturing has announced a major expansion plan, creating 500 new jobs by the end of 2028.
The significant expansion, which is heavily backed by Enterprise Ireland, will see the new roles created primarily across the company’s facilities in Dublin, but will also include new positions at their sites in County Meath. The upcoming vacancies will span a variety of functions, including:
- Engineering
- Technology
- Operations
This massive growth is being driven by an increase in demand for the company’s expertise in design and manufacturing from industry partners and global data centre operators, including Amazon Web Services (AWS).
From Garage to Global Success
BMC Manufacturing’s journey is a remarkable story of indigenous Irish success. Reflecting on the announcement, Founder and Chairman Brendan Meehan recalled the company’s humble beginnings 35 years ago.
“I founded BMC from an office in the house and the garage beside the house,” Meehan shared. “The Tuesday after the Easter Bank holiday weekend, I clearly remember picking up the phone to make the first phone call and try and get an opportunity to tender for some work. And it grew from that one-man operation.“
The company’s recent scaling journey has been significant. In 2022, BMC Manufacturing was an organisation of just 60 individuals in a single location. Today, they employ 328 people across four locations.
A Record-Breaking Day for Irish Enterprise
The jobs boost was revealed at an event where Enterprise Ireland published its Annual Business Results, showing a blockbuster year for Irish trade. Exports from Irish-supported companies reached a record €38.86bn in 2025, an 8% increase on the year prior and almost double in the last decade.
The data also highlighted the massive impact of local business on the community, with Enterprise Ireland client companies spending a staggering €120m every single day in the Irish economy on payroll, goods, and services.
Welcoming the news, Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment, Peter Burke TD, congratulated the team, calling BMC Manufacturing “a true Irish success story.”
