Almost one year on from the tragedy that marred the lives of Martha Nolan-O’Slatarra’s family, they are still no closer to answers.

The aspiring fashion designer was found unresponsive on a boat in the exclusive Montauk area of The Hamptons on August 5, and desperate attempts at revival failed to resuscitate her.

The high-profile case drew widespread attention on both sides of the Atlantic, but authorities are still seemingly no closer to finding out what happened to Martha.

US investigators are reportedly still working on the final post-mortem along with a toxicology report, and it’s reported the results are not known yet.

In the weeks following her death, Martha’s family commissioned a second post-mortem, and they are also still waiting on the results of that.

A source close to them told the Irish Independent: ‘We are in the same place where we were this time 12 months ago.

‘We knew, and were being told, very little then – and we know even less now.’

The person also revealed that one report can’t be considered complete without the other.

Following Martha’s death, the family engaged high-powered attorney Arthur Aidala to help in the search for answers.

That includes why police would be looking into whether Martha had been diagnosed with brain cancer. The lawyer added that the family was ‘desperate’ for answers.

Elma, Martha’s mother, remains understandably heartbroken, and according to the source, her grief is exacerbated by the lack of answers.

According to the Suffolk County Police Department: ‘The investigation is ongoing.’
