A man has been charged with the murder of Noreen Daly in West Waterford earlier this week.
The body of the eighty one year old was discovered in her home in Ardsallagh on Monday.
Thirty three-year-old Finnegan ‘Finn’ Yowell, with an address of Old School House, Ticknock, Youghal, appeared before Carrick on Suir District Court earlier today.
Detective Garda Stephen Condon of Dungarvan Garda Station gave evidence of arrest, charge and caution.
The court was told that the accused made no reply when the charge was put to him.
There was no application for bail as the district court does not have the jurisdiction to grant such an application.
Solicitor Ken Cunningham requested Finn Yowell be medically and psychiatrically assessed.
Judge John O Leary granted this – and the accused was also granted legal aid.
He was remanded in custody until next Tuesday, when he will appear before Clonmel District Court.
