A man in his 60s has died following a four-vehicle road crash in Co Tipperary.

The collision, involving a van and three cars, happened on the R688 at Cooper’s Lot, Cashel, at around 5.40pm on Monday, September 14.

The male driver of one of the cars was pronounced dead at the scene.

His body has since been taken to the mortuary at University Hospital Waterford, where a postmortem examination will take place. The coroner has been notified.

The driver of the van, a man in his 40s, was taken to Tipperary University Hospital in Clonmel for treatment of serious injuries.

No other injuries were reported.

The road remains closed as Garda Forensic Collision Investigators carry out a technical examination of the scene, with local diversions currently in place.

Gardaí are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the collision to come forward.

They are particularly appealing to road users who were travelling in the Cooper’s Lot area between 5pm and 6pm on Monday and may have camera footage, including dashcam recordings.
