A local woman has been praised for her actions last Saturday night, July 4th near Mahon Falls.
Rathgormack woman, Anne Cantwell was en route home having dropped her husband to an establishment in Kilrossanty.
On the way, she had seen a young woman walking on the side of the road near the Mahon Falls area.
While on the way back, she saw the woman still walking on the road in a poorly lit area at approximately 10.30pm.
She told The Big Breakfast Blaa that her conscience got the better of her, and she pulled in to offer assistance.
En Route to Mahon Falls
It transpired that the woman had cycled to the Mahon Falls car park earlier that day and climbed to Lake Coumshingaun.
She was trying to find her back to the carpark on unfamiliar roads when Anne pulled up.
With the assistance of climbers in the area, Anne loaded the woman’s bicycle into her car.
She then drove her to Poleberry in Waterford City, before returning home to her own house at approximately midnight.
The young woman’s mother contacted The Big Breakfast Blaa to offer her thanks to Anne.
Ollie and Dymphna brought Anne on air and conveyed the sincere thanks that was offered.
This is a beautiful example of how random acts of kindness within the community can make a significant difference.
