The parents of a seven-year-old girl who was severely injured in the 2023 Parnell Square attack have welcomed a baby boy.
The mum, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, told Sky News of their family’s joy after their son was born four months ago.
She said her brave daughter is an ‘amazing big sister’ to her baby brother.

‘It was tough even thinking about having a second child, considering what happened. But we thought it would benefit all of us,’ she said.
Their son has been given a name honouring his father’s heritage.
Their daughter ‘loves him’, with her mum adding: ‘She is an amazing big sister, as she keeps a watchful eye on him.’

The seven-year-old girl was left with a life-changing brain injury after being stabbed in the heart by Riad Bouchaker in the horror attack in Dublin in November 2023.
Just two weeks ago, 52-year-old Bouchaker, originally from Algeria, was convicted of all eight charges against him, including the attempted murder of three children. He’ll be sentenced later this year.
The girl’s mother told of her ‘relief’ at the guilty verdicts handed down by the jury. She bears no anger towards Bouchaker, but feels her family will never have full closure.
