A 10-year-old girl has died in hospital, days after a crash that also killed her mother.

The crash occurred on the R162 at Corclare in Shercock, Co Cavan on Friday, July 24 at approximately 4.30pm.

The crash occurred between a car and a flatbed truck. The driver of the car, a woman in her 50s, was pronounced dead at the scene, while a 10-year-old girl was rushed to Temple Street Children’s Hospital in critical condition.

In an update, Gardaí have confirmed that the girl has since tragically died from her injuries on Tuesday afternoon (July 28).

Gardaí said in a statement that they’re continuing their appeal for any witnesses to come forward.

Any road users who were travelling in the Corclare area of Co Cavan between 4.15pm and 5pm on Friday, July 24 and who may have camera footage, including dash cam, to make the footage available to them.
