Gardai are at the scene of a serious assault in a residence in Grange Heights in Waterford City.

At approximately 18.15, emergency services responded to a call out at a domestic residence.

Gardai and the National Ambulance Service attended the scene where a woman was discovered with serious injuries.

She was conveyed to University Hospital Waterford.

Gardai remain at the scene of the house, which is cordoned off this evening.

Investigations are ongoing.
