A total of 369 Men’s Sheds will benefit from funding provided by the Department of Rural and Community Development and the Gaeltacht.

Grants of up to €3,000 are being provided to Men’s Sheds to support their running costs, including here in Waterford.

The funding for the Irish Men’s Sheds Association has been announced by Ministers Dara Calleary and Jerry Buttimer.

In Waterford, Déise, Dungarvan, Lismore, Minceiri and Shedworkx all receive €3,000; Waterford Estuary is being awarded €2,800; Tallow gets €1,900; while Waterford City receives €580 and Portlaw €566.

The emergence of Men’s Sheds has been described as a very positive development for communities across Ireland, with the Government saying it is fully committed to the continued support of Men’s Sheds in the valuable work they do.
