Kill Action Group held an official opening of their new community space on the grounds of Kill Community Centre on Saturday the 17th October.
The project began in 2022 with the help of funding via the Community Enhancement Programme by Waterford City and County Council when funding was received to design the project which was completed by VESI environmental.
The vision was to create an inviting community park strategically located on the grounds of Kill Community Centre.
In April 2024 Kill Action Group alongside Kill Community Centre were fortunate to receive the news that Town &Village Renewal funding was awarded by the Department of Rural and Community Development to help turn this unused space on the grounds of Kill Community Centre into a beautiful landscaped area which all members of the community can enjoy.
The park consists of a seating and play area filled with biodiverse planting. It is also an area which is fully accessible to all patrons.
The grant also included opening up additional car parking spaces to the rear of Kill Community Centre with a tarmacadam finish.
Most recently some small pieces of play equipment were added through additional receipt of funding from the 2026 Local Enhancement Programme.
The day also saw the launch of the Kill Village Community Plan on receipt of funding from Waterford Leader Partnership. Work was in collaboration with various other committees in Kill, with the plan outlining goals and objectives on things the community can work towards in the future.
On the day Kill Action Group also unveiled a special commemorative plaque in honour of the late Fr Jerry Condon which was described as a fitting tribute to an individual who was dedicated, committed and strove to improve facilities within Kill village.

His initiative and ability to fundraise were described as “Trojan” while his “warm, approachable and empathetic” manner was remembered and how he involved himself in all aspects of life in Kill including his particular love of hurling and togging out for Kill GAA club.
The committee has extended thanks to the Department of Rural and Community Development, Waterford Leader Partnership, Waterford City & County Council for support with funding and delivery of the project.
Members have also thanked the hard working committee members who are always on hand to help and the people of Kill who have supported and backed them through fundraising initiatives over the last number of years.
