Fire crews are assessing the scene of three separate fires in the Comeragh Mountains near the entrance to Mahon Falls.

WLR News Editor Kieran Foley is at the scene, where three fire engines were in attendance this morning.

Crews from Kilmacthomas, Portlaw and Dungarvan attended the fires yesterday afternoon and into the evening.

However, operations were scaled back at around 8.30 pm due to fading daylight and concerns over the difficult terrain.

The cause of the fires remains unknown.

Visibility in the area is poor this morning, and the full extent of the fires has yet to be established.

There is hope locally that the fires may have subsided overnight, with crews now assessing the situation.
