Businesses, community groups and individuals across Waterford are being urged to put forward their environmental initiatives for the 2026 Repak Resource Awards before entries close at the end of the month.

Repak is making a final call for entries, with the closing date set for Monday, August 31st, 2026.

The annual awards recognise organisations and individuals making a meaningful environmental impact through projects focused on waste prevention, recycling, reuse, refill, resource efficiency and the development of a circular economy.

Repak is encouraging organisations of all sizes and from every sector across Waterford to showcase the work they are doing to use resources more efficiently and contribute to Ireland’s transition towards a more circular economy.

The awards are free to enter and provide an opportunity for successful entrants to gain national recognition for their work, celebrate the people behind their environmental initiatives and share examples of best practice.

Repak CEO Zoe Kavanagh said the progress being made towards a circular economy is being driven by people and organisations across the country.

She said the awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the efforts of businesses, community groups and individuals working to deliver positive environmental change.

Kavanagh is also encouraging organisations in Waterford not to miss the opportunity to have their work recognised on a national stage as the closing date approaches.

There are 13 categories in this year’s awards, covering a wide range of environmental and sustainability initiatives.

They include the Battery and WEEE Champion Award, Environmental Education Initiative, Innovation in Reuse and Refill, Community Sustainability Initiative and Waste Prevention/Reduction Initiative.

There are also awards for Best Waste Recovery Operator and Facility, Best Recovery Operator Innovation, Innovation in Sustainable Packaging Design, Innovation in SUP Reduction/Removal and Best Deposit Return Initiative.

The remaining categories are the Tyre Champion Award, Sustainability Team of the Year and Business Recycling Champion.

Entrants are being asked to outline the initiative they have undertaken, the environmental challenge it was designed to address and, importantly, the measurable impact or results achieved.

Repak says the awards are open to organisations and individuals across the country, meaning Waterford businesses, community groups and sustainability leaders have an opportunity to showcase projects already making a difference locally.

With just over two weeks remaining before the deadline, those interested in entering are being encouraged to get their applications submitted.
