A man has been charged following an incident of criminal damage at a veterinary clinic in Waterford City overnight.

Several windows were smashed at the City Vets premises on Matty’s Hill during the incident, which happened shortly after 1.30am on Saturday morning.

Gardaí responded to reports of criminal damage at the scene and arrested a man in his 20s. He was detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act at a Garda station in Waterford.

The man has since been charged and is due to appear before a sitting of Waterford District Court early next month.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
