Uisce Éireann is carrying out essential works on the water network at the Ballinamuck Water Treatment Plant as part of construction upgrades associated with the new treatment plant. This project represents a €29.5 million investment that will deliver long-term benefits for communities in Dungarvan and the surrounding areas.
To facilitate these works, a temporary planned water supply interruption will take place in Dungarvan and Abbeyside from 11:00pm on Wednesday night, 20 May until 9:00am on Thursday morning, 21 May.
Some customers in An Rinn may experience low pressure on Thursday, afternoon 21 May.
These temporary interruptions are required to safely complete network connections. Uisce Éireann acknowledges the impact to customers and thanks them for their patience.
Following restoration, it can take two to three hours for normal water pressure to return as the network recharges. Customers on higher ground or at the end of the network may experience longer delays.
Some customers may also experience temporary discolouration of water as supply returns. Customers experiencing discoloured water are advised to run the cold kitchen tap for several minutes until it runs clear. If the water does not return to a clear colour, customers are advised not to drink it as a precaution and to contact Uisce Éireann using the details below.
Commenting on the works, Maura Phelan, Uisce Éireann Water Networks Operations Manager for Waterford, said: “We appreciate the community’s patience as we carry out these essential upgrades, which form part of the Ballinamuck Water Treatment Plant project. We understand the impact a water supply interruption can have and apologise to customers affected by these works. Once complete, the Ballinamuck Water Treatment Plant will deliver a safer, more reliable water supply for homes and businesses across the Dungarvan area.”
The Ballinamuck Water Treatment Plant project will provide a more robust and resilient drinking water supply for local communities. Once complete, the new plant will improve drinking water quality, strengthen security of supply and support future growth and development across Dungarvan and the surrounding areas.
