Dawn Meats will play a central role at this year’s Tullamore Show and National Livestock Show, with the company once again supporting the Sustainable Livestock Village, one of the event’s key attractions.

Speaking ahead of Sunday’s show, Paul Nolan of Dawn Meats highlighted the importance of the initiative, which is now in its fourth year and has become a major feature of the event.

Originally built around Dawn Meats’ long-standing presence at Tullamore, the Sustainable Livestock Village brings together a range of industry organisations “to tog out as one team on the day” and, importantly, to “make sustainability simple” for farmers and visitors.

Groups including ICBF, Animal Health Ireland, Ornua, Teagasc, the meat and dairy sectors, and the National Dairy Council will be based in the village, providing practical advice on topics including succession, women in farming and sustainable water systems.

A dedicated speakers’ corner will host discussions throughout the day, while the Best Agri Photo of the Year competition, run in partnership with the Irish Farmers Journal, is also expected to attract strong interest.

This year’s show also coincides with the International Year of the Woman Farmer, with four women from across the agri sector set to share their experiences and priorities for change on the national stage in Tullamore.

Nolan said the one-day format remains “extremely successful” and believes Sunday’s event will once again highlight Tullamore’s position as the home of the National Livestock Show.
