Davitt’s Quay in Dungarvan will be temporarily closed today, Monday, September 14th, to facilitate preparatory works for improvements to the seawall.
Waterford City and County Council has confirmed that Cumnor Construction has been awarded the contract for works at the Dungarvan seawall under the Local Marine Infrastructure Fund.
The project is aimed at providing greater structural stability to the seawall.
As part of the preparations, Cumnor Construction will carry out trial holes on Davitt’s Quay near the Castle end today.
The works will result in a temporary closure of Davitt’s Quay from the car park near Harbour Bay to the Moorings.
Diversion signage will be in place while the closure is in operation.
Further temporary closures will be required for short periods once the main construction work gets underway.
The dates for those closures have yet to be confirmed, with further information expected to be issued through MapAlerter once the schedule is known.
