Waterford City and County Council has issued a letter to all homes in the vicinity of the former Jute Factory site in Tycor, Waterford City. These includes residential areas such as Keane’s Road, Morrison’s Avenue, and all adjoining streets.
Following several meetings today between Waterford Council and other advisory bodies, a health and safety warning has been issued through letterboxes across the area.
On Saturday evening, eight units of the fire service from Waterford City, County, and Kilkenny battled the blaze which engulfed the large site housing many businesses and community organizations.
Following concerns on the possible presence of absestos in the roof of the building, safety guidelines were issued pending official confirmation from the HSE Department of Environmental Health.
