Planning permission has been granted by Waterford City and County Council to transform the former Grand Bazaar shop on Cork Road in Waterford City into a restaurant.

The premises, located beside Farrell’s Autoport and directly opposite the main South East Technological University (SETU) campus, are set to undergo a change of use following approval by Waterford City and County Council.

The approved development includes the conversion of the existing shop into a restaurant, alongside the installation of new signage on the front and side of the building.

Permission has also been granted for 12 new parking spaces at the rear of the premises.

The location is situated along one of the busiest routes into Waterford City, with a significant student population and a number of businesses and workplaces nearby.

The new restaurant could prove popular with students attending the nearby SETU campus, as well as employees from surrounding businesses and commuters travelling along Cork Road.

Details of the restaurant operator and a potential opening date have not yet been confirmed.
