Talk about the difference a year, or in this case three, can make as a holiday home in the Blainroe estate near Wicklown town has gone back on the market at almost double the price it sold for in 2023.

We’re sure eyes will be popping as residents of the luxury compound sit over a glass of Rosé this weekend to clock the asking price for the formerly four-bed, now three-bed, bungalow.

85 The Briary in Co Wicklow has returned to the market, complete with a new extension housing a modern open-plan kitchen and plenty of bold and colourful design touches.

After selling for €550,000 in 2023, the home is now back on the market for a cool €995,000, with an extra 68.4m² of space.

Over the past two years, the home has been completely reworked and given a new layout, with the main change being the addition of a kitchen-diner.

This space is divided into sections, with a dining area by one set of large patio doors and a kitchen complete with a marble-counter-topped island and gold accents that contrast with the black cupboards.

To the other side of the kitchen is a small seating space with a modern fireplace and TV on the wall, great for relocating to once it gets a bit too chilly to stay outside.

In the other rooms, the current owners’ personality shines through, with a black and blue floral design creating a feature wall in one of the ensuite bedrooms.

Now listed as a three-bed, two-bath bungalow, it appears as though some of the space at 85 The Briary has been given to a walk-in wardrobe.

The bathrooms, all reworked since the home was sold in 2023, also boast bold patterns.

One space feels as if the jungle has come to Co Wicklow, with green foliage covering all the walls and the bathtub.

Another sitting room space, which also has a garden view, has its walls painted green and its brick detailing black, adding colour to the home.

Talking of the garden, it’s this that makes 85 The Briary such a gem. As well as its huge south-facing garden, there’s a side garden overlooking the second fairway of the Blainroe golf course.

There’s also a walled-in courtyard, which now has black decking around the edges and a grass patch playing host to a table and chairs in the centre.

Blainroe has long been a popular spot for well heeled Southsiders wanting to escape from Dublin city for the summer months, as it is only a five-minute drive from Wicklow town, has access to a private beach on its doorstep, and has several tennis courts.

The property’s former owners previously told EVOKE that the home had been in their family for 20 years and that it had ‘been a very privileged place for our children to grow up during summers.’

‘It’s lovely in the morning to have your cup of coffee while seeing all the golfers putting at the second hole outside your window,’ they added, praising 85 The Briary’s prime spot on the estate.

Sure, you’d be hoping for a prime spot, what with the property’s new asking price of €995,000. To find out more about 85 The Briary, check out its listing.
