WLR has announced Andy McCloskey as the new presenter of its weekday drivetime programme, The Spin Home.

Andy will take over the popular 3pm to 6pm show from this week, bringing considerable broadcasting experience and a strong track record in the highly competitive radio market. 

He is well known to listeners in Waterford from his time at Beat and is a former presenter with XFM London. 

WLR CEO Michael Byrne said Andy’s appointment followed an extensive interview process.

“Andy is one of the best radio presenters in the business, and we’re delighted that he is joining the Spin-Home on WLR,” he said.

“He brings energy, experience and a real understanding of what listeners want from a drivetime programme. 

“Andy is joining WLR at a very exciting time. The station now reaches 73,000 listeners every week, and we believe he will bring something fresh and engaging to our afternoon schedule.”

Speaking about his new role, Andy McCloskey said: “I’m delighted to be taking over The Spin Home. It’s a station with a brilliant connection to its listeners and a strong sense of what matters to people across Waterford.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started, having some fun and keeping listeners company on the journey home each afternoon.”

The Spin Home combines music, entertainment, local information and conversation, keeping listeners up to date as they make their way home each weekday.
