Emergency services responded to a Belfast city centre funfair on Sunday afternoon after a ride came to a standstill while suspended in mid-air with passengers on board.

Around 15 people are believed to have been left stranded when the attraction stopped unexpectedly at the funfair on Dunbar Link.

The incident unfolded as thousands of visitors descended on Belfast for the opening weekend of Fleadh Cheoil na hÉireann, with large crowds gathering across the city centre.

Those stranded were safely brought back to the ground after around an hour, according to Belfast Live.

No injuries have been reported at this stage, while the circumstances surrounding why the ride stopped remain unclear.
