Hollywood superstar Brad Pitt sent Cork fans into a frenzy this weekend, as the globally adored actor touched down in Cork.

The Oscar-winning star landed in Cork airport on Friday afternoon, where he was promptly whisked away in a chauffeur-driven Range Rover.

But the famously fan-friendly actor couldn’t escape eagle-eyed fans who had gathered outside the airport terminal, as word quickly circulated that the Hollywood heartthrob was in the Rebel County.

What’s Pitt doing in Cork?

Pitt is in Cork for a short stint, as he is filming his latest big-screen flick One For All, which is currently being shot at various locations around the sunny South.

And Cork locals ensured he was treated to a Cead Mile Failte, as his SUV was mobbed by adoring fans who had waited hours ahead of his arrival on Irish soil.

But rather than zip past the excited fans, Brad was spotted winding down his tinted windows and engaging with fans before zooming off to his Cork bolt-hole.

He’s one of the most recognisable faces on the planet and lucky fans in Cork got a very close look indeed on Friday evening when Brad Pitt emerged to greet the crowds who had gathered near the city’s airport, hoping for a glimpse of the Hollywood legend.

Among those who got up-close with Brad was star-spotted Emam Towmey who spotted a letter sent to locals from production company Zadelle Films confirming that filming was planned for between 2pm and 4pm in the area.

Earlier in the week, word spread throughout the town that a visit from Brad could be in the offing.

Several roads near Cork Airport were closed as production for the feature film One For All took place, with road scenes on the L455 between Lios Cross and Pouladuff Road shut to traffic between 2pm and 6pm.

What is the film?

The film, which has been generating enormous buzz, sees Pitt take on the role of Fred Scully.

The story centres on a father who, after travelling through Europe for two years, buys an old farmhouse in rural Ireland and sets about renovating it, only for his world to be turned upside down when he arrives at an Irish airport to collect his partner and daughter, and realises his partner is missing.

Pitt’s own production company, Plan B Entertainment, is behind the Edward Berger-directed project, alongside acclaimed indie studio A24, which is handling finance and distribution.

The production has been sweeping across Europe, with Pitt previously seen filming in Dublin in February before jetting to the Greek island of Hydra, with further scenes also planned in Wicklow and Kerry.
