Kate Garraway has found love again, two years after her husband Derek Draper’s tragic death at the age of 56.

The world watched on as Kate nursed the father of her two children through COVID and the subsequent aftermath before his sad passing in January 2024.

Now, it seems that Kate is ready to start writing the next chapter of her life with her new love, Liam Halligan.

Liam was born to an Irish family in London and works as an economist and journalist.

The fledgling couple are thought to have known each other for over 20 years and reportedly met through friends when he was working as a Financial Times journalist.

He was also believed to be friendly with Kate’s husband.

After supporting Liam at a recent cycling event, Kate has now opened up about their blossoming romance.

She told The Mirror at The Chelsea Flower Show that it’s ‘lovely’ before adding that she is keeping things under wraps for fear of ‘jinxing’ it.

‘We basically haven’t had time for a proper date! I don’t want to jinx it! I don’t want to say anything because I wil jinx it,’ she said, before adding: ‘We all love an Irishman, don’t we?’

Intriguingly, it was Liam who first spoke of the romance in an article for The Spectator, writing that it was still early days for their romance, but that there is ‘a definite spark.’
