Saoirse Ronan has broken her silence on rumours that her husband Jack Lowden could be the next James Bond.

The Dublin actress, 32, has been married to the Slow Horses star since July 2024, with the Scottish actor, 36, heavily linked to the coveted 007 role in recent months.

Speculation surrounding Jack’s potential casting intensified last month after his Slow Horses co-star Gary Oldman claimed that Bond bosses had already ‘made their choice’.

However, speaking to the Press Association recently, four-time Oscar nominee Saoirse played down the speculation and revealed that the subject is not exactly a major talking point at home.

Referring to Gary’s comments, Saoirse joked: ‘I mean, well Gary Oldman thinks he’s James Bond, which is its own thing!’

She continued: ‘I mean, we’re kind of getting on with our life to be honest, we have plenty of other things to be dealing with.’

‘So yeah, it’s not really a subject that’s coming up in our house to be honest,’ the Little Women star admitted.

Saoirse, who welcomed her first child with Jack last year, added: ‘The dog needs to be walked, the dinner needs to be made, we’re more focused on that.’

‘Jack’s on Slow Horses right now, and he’s having a good time on that,’ she added.

The next Bond film, which remains untitled, will be the 26th instalment in the franchise and is set to be directed by Dune filmmaker Denis Villeneuve.

The iconic 007 role has remained vacant since Daniel Craig’s departure from the franchise in 2021, with speculation surrounding his replacement continuing for several years.

Last month, reports claimed that the race had been narrowed down to Callum Turner, Jack Lowden and Jack Barton.

Gary Oldman, who stars alongside Jack in Slow Horses, appeared to add fuel to the rumours when he appeared on Canada’s The Morning Show.

Discussing the speculation, Gary said: ‘It’s been rumoured that he [Jack Lowden] is on the shortlist.’

He then appeared to suggest that a decision had already been made, adding: ‘We’re going to find out pretty soon, aren’t we? Because they have picked him.’

‘They have made their choice, but they have not announced it yet. So my fingers are crossed for Jack,’ he added.

The comments sparked further speculation that Jack could be set to take over from Daniel Craig as the legendary British spy.

For now, however, Saoirse appears to be leaving the Bond speculation at the door, with walking the dog and making dinner taking priority at home.
