Congratulations are in order for RTÉ star Valerie Wheeler, who has welcomed her first child with her husband, Gavin Young.

The sports broadcaster has gushed that their ‘family is finally complete’ after welcoming a baby boy weeks before their first wedding anniversary.

On Monday, Valerie shared the expected black-and-white snap of Gavin carrying their son’s car seat as they left the hospital.

‘Our little boy. Our hearts have never been so full,’ she gushed. ‘Leaving together as a family of three was a moment we will never, ever forget.

‘We want to say the biggest and most heartfelt thank you to every single person at University Maternity Hospital Limerick who looked after us along the way.

‘To the incredible midwives, nurses, doctors and all the wonderful staff — thank you for caring for us with such kindness, patience and compassion.’

‘We genuinely could not have asked for a better team to have beside us at such an important time in our lives,’ Valerie praised.

‘You welcomed our little boy into the world, cared for him so wonderfully, and looked after us when we needed it most. We will forever be grateful for every one of you

‘A very special thank you to Dr. Naro and the entire team for everything. It’s time for our greatest adventure yet.’

‘Welcome home, our beautiful boy,’ she wrote, before concluding: ‘Our family is finally complete.’

A host of well-known faces flocked to the comments section to congratulate the happy couple, with Muireann O’Connell leading the charge. She wrote: ‘Valerie and Gav! This is amazing news! Delighted for ye!’

Anna Geary, Niamh de Brún, Ciara Revins, and Stephanie Roche quickly followed suit.

Valerie and Gavin have been together since the summer of 2022 and got engaged in New York in 2024. The couple will soon be celebrating their first wedding anniversary.

They said ‘I do’, surrounded by their family and friends in a sun-soaked ceremony hosted in Portugal.
