Fair City actor Gerard Jordan has announced the arrival of his ninth child with partner Jo, sharing the heartwarming news and their baby girl’s beautiful name.

The actor, who plays Steo Nash in the hit RTÉ soap, took to social media over the weekend to introduce their newest family member, daughter Fleur Eden.

Sharing a sweet post, Gerard wrote: ‘Our Beautiful Daughter, Fleur Eden. Blessed beyond words. We love you so much baby girl.’

The couple, who have been together for 12 years, are already parents to Jasper, Hugo, River, Sage, Saint, Zen, Enzo and Halo, who was born last year.

Gerard previously opened up about becoming a father at the age of 25, admitting some people thought he was young but insisting he and Jo always knew they wanted a large family.

‘I know 25 seems young, but we were very mature in the decision and [knew] what we wanted at that time,’ he told the Irish Independent last year.

The Dubliner and Fair City actor said fatherhood completely changed his priorities.

‘Ever since I became a dad, it’s not about me anymore, it’s about them, so I put them first before anything I do. Patience is the key.

‘You just have to be really flexible with everything. You know yourself, they get sick out of nowhere. You have to be prepared for that.

‘And then it’s a knock-on effect with the other kids. So you just have to be ready, ready for the unexpected.

‘If you are going to have a big family, you have to circle your life around the children. It is difficult, but you’ve got to give up going out with your friends so you can really focus on your kids.’

Gerard said he had always dreamed of raising a busy household full of children.

‘I have always loved the idea of a full, lively home. The kind of place where there is always laughing or someone needing a snack or needing something.’
