Louise McSharry has opened up about her experience on Mounjaro, saying she feels both physically and mentally better than she ever has before.

Around a year ago, the former 2FM presenter had a conversation with her doctor about the drug, having struggled with the fluctuation of her weight over the past decade.

Louise spoke of how she succeeded on multiple occasions in losing weight, but when she put the weight back on, it was more than she had initially lost.

Louise shrugged off the idea that weight gain equals a ‘lack of willpower or innate weakness’, and rather that it’s simply the way some people are made.

‘I worked hard for many years to fight against the fat-phobic values society projected on me, and at times it worked,’ she said. ‘At times, I felt a lot better about my bigger body, but if I’m honest, I never found peace.’

Enter drugs like Ozempic and Mounjaro. She said she was initially ‘sceptical’ and that they were ‘too good to be true’, but her journey tells a different story.

Louise’s ‘life changed entirely’ when she took her first dose of Mounjaro in early 2025, and realised that her relationship with food had been ‘problematic’.

Her mindset changed, she ‘suddenly had breathing room’, and her head became a ‘more peaceful place’.

Writing in the Irish Independent, the mum-of-two said it was ‘the best decision’ she’s ever made, and that she feels better than she ever has.

She’s looking ahead to her family holiday, delighted she’ll be able to run around and play with her children for the first time.

‘There’s nothing anyone could say that could make me feel like taking a medication to help me make this possible was a mistake,’ Louise wrote.
