She’s one of the most recognisable names at RTÉ, but Laura Fox has revealed that she almost threw in the towel with her media career.
Success didn’t come easy for the star, who spent years picking up standby gigs on radio while trying to land a permanent role at 2FM.
That left her and her hubby Brian skipping holidays and other luxuries, and at times she was even left worried about paying her rent.

Laura set herself timelines to make it in the industry, but when one turned into another, she almost gave up on her dream; holding out paid off in the long run, even if it left her at her low ebb at times.
‘I remember crying one night, really frustrated because I had no money and was trying to figure out how to pay my rent and what jobs I could do because you have to be able to take opportunities as they came, so you couldn’t work a consistent job, which was incredibly frustrating,’ she recalled.

‘I was bawling and told Brian I’d have to call it quits if nothing came up,’ she added to RSVP.
Thankfully, he proved to be her biggest supporter and encouraged her to stick with her goals.
A few short months later, ‘everything began to happen’

Now she’s one of the busiest stars at RTÉ, and that’s the way she likes it.
‘I still can’t believe that everything that I’ve ever wanted to do has happened and is happening.’
Laura’s comments come amid a busy year for her and Brian, which has seen them legally tie the knot ahead of their big Italian wedding.
